In this SharePoint Online tutorial, I will explain the use of SharePoint Online list web part. Then I will show how to add a list web part in SharePoint Online.
And also how to customize the list web part in SharePoint Online. I will also explain how to hide the title in the SharePoint Online list web part.
SharePoint Online List Web Part
Using a SharePoint list web part, we can display any SharePoint list inside a SharePoint Online site page. For example, let us say you have 5 different lists on a site, and you want to display those lists on your home page or any site page, then you can use the SharePoint Online list web part as shown below.

Now, let us understand how to use it.
Add SharePoint Online list web part
Now, we will see how to use the SharePoint Online list web part. To do that, I have taken a SharePoint Online List (Example: Employee Directory), that I want to display on a SharePoint site page. To do this, the following steps are:
- Open a SharePoint site page -> Click on the Edit icon. Inside the Edit mode, click on the + icon to add a new web part in column one. Now, select the List to Display a list from this site.


- Then, select a list to add to this page. I selected the list, and then clicked on Republish, as shown below.

- The screenshot below shows the SharePoint Online list web part.

Customize a SharePoint list web part
In this part, I will show how to customize the SharePoint Online list web part, like changing the list or view, displaying items from a folder, Size, Show/hide command bar, and Show/Hide the ‘see all’ button.
Change List or View
- Click on the Edit icon on the SharePoint site page.

- Left-click on your SharePoint Online list web part -> Click on the Edit icon.

- Then select the List. Here, I have selected an Employee Directory list and then select, the View in a SharePoint Online List Web Part, and then click on Apply as shown below.

- The below screenshot shows how our SharePoint Online List Web Part looks.

Display items from a folder
- Folder: For this, a folder must be there in your SharePoint Online List so that you can type the name of the folder, and it will display the item in your folder. Here, I have typed the name of the folder Animal Print Wallpaper, then, click on Apply.

- The screenshot below shows the folder item of the SharePoint Online list web part.

Size
- Size: In SharePoint list web part size, we have 4 options to apply as listed below.
- Autosize – fit to number of items
- Small – about 5 items
- Medium – about 15 items
- Large – about 30 items
- Here, I have selected Small – about 5 items, it will display 5 items at a time, and click on Apply as shown below.

- The screenshot below shows how the list web part in SharePoint appears.

Show/Hide command bar
- In the Show/Hide command bar, the toggle is, by default, towards the Show command bar shown below.

- To hide the command bar, move the toggle and then click on Apply. Then you can see the command bar is not appear on the List web part of SharePoint Online.

Show/Hide “See all” button
- In this, the toggle is by default towards the Show “See all” button as shown below.

- To hide the “See all” button, move the toggle towards Off and click Apply. Then you can see the “See all” button is disappears from the SharePoint Online List Web Part.

- Now, click on Republish as shown below.

Dynamic Filtering in List Web Part
Here, I will show how to filter one SharePoint list based on a choice you made in another SharePoint list using dynamic filtering. So, to do dynamic filtering in the SharePoint list web part, I have to take two SharePoint Online Lists.
For Example, I have taken two SharePoint Online Lists, as mentioned below.
- Employee Directory: In this SharePoint Online List, all the basic information related to the employee is stored as shown in the screenshot below.

2. Office Register: This SharePoint Online List stores all the office employees’ information as shown in the screenshot below.

Follow the below steps to achieve Dynamic Filtering in the SharePoint Online List Web Part.
- Open a SharePoint Online Site home page -> Click on the Edit icon.

- Click on the + icon to Add a new section then select Two columns under Sections.

- Click on the + icon and select the List web part like below:

- Inside this tab, select a list to add to this page. I have selected the Employee Directory List.

- Now, again, click on the + icon, then select the second list to add to this page, and I have selected Office Register.

- You can see both the SharePoint Online list web part is added as shown below.

- Then click on the Edit icon and slide the toggle toward On under Dynamic filtering in the Edit tab.

- Column in Employee Directory to filter: Select the column from Employee Directory. I have chosen Employee Department
- List or Library containing the filter value: Select SharePoint’s second List web part (Office Register).
- Column containing the filter value’s properties: Select the column containing the filter value’s properties. Here, I have selected Department.
- Click on Apply.

- Now, click on Republish.

- Now, when we select an item from the list that contains the Sales, then the items in Employee Directory List containing Sales will get filtered and appear on the Employee Directory list side as shown below.

SharePoint Online List Web Part Hide Title
This section will show you how to hide a title in the SharePoint Online list web part.
When we delete the header text, it will be replaced on republish, but if we put some blank space after deleting the title, then the title will get disappear on republish. To achieve it, follow the steps below.
- Click on the Edit icon. Inside the Edit mode, click on Title and delete it, then put some blank space in the Title section and click on Republish as shown below.

- The screenshot below shows the title is disappeared from the SharePoint List Web Part as shown below.
