SharePoint Online List Properties Web part
We will use the SharePoint list properties web part to display the properties of a SharePoint Online list item.
Example:
- Suppose you have a SharePoint Online list web part on a site page where you are displaying items from a list, there we can add a list properties web part.
- So, when a user selects a particular item, all the properties of that list item will be displayed using that list properties web part on the same site page.
How to use SharePoint List Properties Web part
Recently, while working with a USA clients requirement, I had done the same thing. Let us understand in detail, with the below example.
- Here, I have created a modern site page in the same SharePoint Online site. On that page, I have created a two-column section, where on the left section, I have added the SharePoint list web part and in that, I am displaying a list like below.
- And in the right section, we will add the list properties web part.

Add SharePoint Online List properties web part
Here we will see how to add a List properties web part on that SharePoint site page.
- Click on the + icon (it will be a cancel icon once the user presses it) -> Choose List properties as shown below:

- A dialogue box appears on the right-hand side to connect a list or list web part on this page, click on the More options (…) -> select Connect to source as shown below:

Note:
In SharePoint site page, without having a SharePoint List web part, we cannot connect to a List properties.
- Once we enabled it, we receive:
- Connect to source: Select a SharePoint list (Semiconductor Transaction Details), which we need to display its properties.
- Display: By default, it will be chosen as the Selected item.
- Size: We can set the limit of items to be displayed by 5 items, 15 items, or more items. The best is to choose Autosize – fit to number of items.
- Allow users to edit list items: Here we allow the users to change the list item’s value or delete it too. We can enable or disable it.
- Select field to display: Select the SharePoint columns that you want to display in the List properties web part.

- Then click on Republish which appears on the right-hand side of the page.

- Now when a user selects an item from the SharePoint List web part (Semiconductor Transaction Details) presented on the left section, it will display all the item details on the list properties web part presented in the right section like below.

- Whenever we will edit an item, or delete a column value, it will reflect on the list properties web part as well, see in the fig below:

This is how to add and use a list properties web part on the SharePoint site page.

Disable editing of list items in the SharePoint List Properties Web part
By default Allow users to edit list items will be enabled in the list properties web part. With this feature, users can change the list item’s value or delete a column value.
We utilize a SharePoint List Properties Web part to quick changes and updates to items in the list. But here we will see how to disable the Allow users to edit list items.
- Now to customize the SharePoint List Properties Web part, click on the edit icon (Edit web part) as shown below:

If there is a list with dozens of columns, the user can modify it by adding or removing the fields to display in the SharePoint list Properties Web part. By using that, users can understand it easily. We can do it by Edit web part of List properties.
- Select fields to display: Select the columns which are necessary to display

Then the columns will be displayed based on the selected columns as shown below:
