When we are Importing an Excel list to a SharePoint list, your Excel list should be formatted as a table. Else when we directly import the SharePoint list from Excel, we will find a, You don’t have any tables in this file. You need to define tables to import as a list.

The reason is that SharePoint can only detect tables in the Excel file to import. Initially, we need to format an Excel list as a table, the steps are:

  • Initially Select a cell with the data -> Click Format as Table as shown below:

  • From Excel, you can select an Excel file from your device or this site. Choose Upload File (If you are uploading a file from your device, the Excel list should be formatted in table format.)

  • After, when you select a file from your device, it pop-up with a window to customize it. Now you can then check the column types. All the columns aside from the “Title” are set to the “Single line of text” and “Number” type, which you can change.

Supported Data Types
