We have a SharePoint Online List (Mercy Health Donors). This list has various columns with different types of data types like:

• Donated Amount = Currency data type
• Donated Branch = Choice column
• Payment Mode = Choice column

According to the requirements from the client, he/she doesn’t require a column related to the Amount paid information in a SharePoint Online list. For this reason, we will delete this choice column from the specified SharePoint list.

• Navigate to the SharePoint list that you wanted to delete.
  • For example: Here, we are taking a list i.e, (The Mercy Health Donors list on the Mercy Hospitals site) in that we are deleting a list column named ”Amount Paid“.
• Click on Amount Paid -> Expand Column settings -> Select Edit.

• In the Edit column (Amount Paid) -> select Delete at the bottom.

• Then, the specified column (Amount Paid) will be deleted permanently.

Note: We can not delete SharePoint list Title column. Instead of the deletion, We can hide the Title column (Expand the Title -> Column settings -> Hide this column).

• Navigate to the SharePoint Online list ( Mercy Health Donors list).
• Click Settings (from the top right corner) -> Select List Settings.

• On the List Settings page, you can see all the list columns that are available under the Columns section. Just click on the column that you want to delete.
• Here, we want to delete the Amount Paid column (Choice). Just click on it.

• On the Edit column (Amount Paid) page -> Click Delete at the bottom as shown below.

• Next, a deletion prompt will appear, click on OK for the confirmation of the deletion.

• Then, the updated list will appear as shown in the below figure:

Who Can Delete a SharePoint Online List Column
