According to our requirement, we have created a custom SharePoint online list named Dining Tables and created columns like the below:

Here, we have created different types of columns for the SharePoint Online list such as:
- Title: We rename this default Title column to Table ID as per our requirement.
- Table Name: This single line of text column will be used to store the Table Name.
- Category: We have created a Choice column named Category having the choices Amish Trestle Dining Tables, Amish Pedestal Dining Tables, and Amish Pub Tables. Where the user can select the Category as per their requirement.
- Price: We have created a Currency column named Price that allows all the currency formats; but as per our requirement, we have used United States currency.
- Features: We have created a multiple-line of text column to store the Dining table’s features.
- Seats: We have created a Number column named Seats. Here, also we disabled the option to display a thousand separators within the number.
- Style: We have created a Choice column named Style having the choices Colonial American Furniture, Contemporary Furniture, Country, and Farmhouse. From where the user can select the Style as per their requirement.
- Color: We have created a Choice column named Color having the choices Brown, Black, White, Yellow, Red, and Blue. Once we enable Allow multiple selections, the user can select multiple colors.
- Wood Type: We have created a Choice column named Wood Type. having the choices Maple, Cherry, Oak, and Elm. where the user can select the Style as per their requirement.
- Quantity: We have created a Number column named Quantity. Here, also we disabled the option to display a thousand separators within the number.
- Table Dimensions: We have created a multiple-line of text column to store the Table Dimensions.
- Est. Delivery Time: We have created a Choice column named Est. Delivery Time. having the choices ≤ 4 Weeks, 9-12 Weeks, and 13-16 Weeks. where the user can select the Style as per their requirement.
Note:
If your Site member, to Create, Edit, or Delete list items in SharePoint custom list, you must have edit permissions from Site owner or Site adminstator. But Site owner does’t have any permissions.
Now, we will see, how to add items to the SharePoint Online list.
Create Items in a SharePoint Online List
Here, we will discuss how to create items from a SharePoint Custom List and followed the below two ways such as:
- Add single items in the List view.
- Multiple items in the Edit in grid view (Quick edit).
To create items in a SharePoint Online list, follow the below steps:
- On our SharePoint Team site. Navigate to Site contents.
- Inside the Site contents, we can select the Custom List (Ex: Dining Tables ).

- Above the SharePoint Online list, we can select the +New or + New item link to open the New item window.

- Enter the information for the new list item(Ex: Amish Tolieson Pub Table)
- Then click on the Save button. The new item will appear in the List.

This is how to add a single item to a SharePoint Online list.
Now, we will see, how to add multiple items to the SharePoint list by using the Edit grid view option.
Follow the below steps:
- At the top of our SharePoint Custom list, select Edit grid view.
- Enter the information for the new list item in the SharePoint custom list. This way, you can keep on adding multiple items to the SharePoint list.
- Once we’re finished entering the information, select Exit grid view. All the list items will be saved in the list.

This is how to create a single item or we can add multiple items to a SharePoint Online list.
Update SharePoint Online List Items
Similarly, we discuss how to Update/Edit an item from a SharePoint Online List. Just follow the below steps:
- On our SharePoint Online List. Select the Circle from the List item to highlight the particular list item (Ex: Amish Triple Pedestal Dining Room Table).
- Next, click on the Edit option from the SharePoint Online list command bar.

- And here, we can also find another Edit option in the ECB (…) menu from the first column.

Now, we will see, how to edit multiple items to the SharePoint list by using the Edit grid view option.
- At the top of our SharePoint Online list, select Edit grid view, here we can edit all items at a time.
- Once we Edit the specific item, then click on Edit in the grid view. It will be updated in our SharePoint Online list.

Now, see another option, select the List item then edit the item like below:

Delete Items from a SharePoint Online List
Likewise, we will discuss how to Delete items from a SharePoint custom List. For this follows the below steps:
- Open the SharePoint Online List, where we want to Delete an item or items.
- Select the item or items, then click on the Delete option like below:

- Here, we can also find another Delete option in the ECB menu(…) from the first column.
- Click on the Delete option. Then, it will be deleted from the SharePoint Online List.

Now, we will see, how to Delete multiple items to the SharePoint list by using the Edit grid view option.
- Click on Edit grid view, select which items were deleted from the SharePoint Online list, and next click on Edit grid view. Then, it will be deleted from the SharePoint Online List.
