Let us find out, how to create a SharePoint Online Communication Site. We can create SharePoint Online Communication Site in two ways.
- Create using SharePoint Home Page.
- Create using SharePoint Admin Center.
Create a SharePoint Communication site using the SharePoint Home page
Now, let’s see how to create a SharePoint Online Communication Site using Home Page.
- Go to the SharePoint home page and open it. Now navigate to https://<tenant name>.sharepoint.com. For example, https://tsinfotechnologies.sharepoint.com/sites/SocialCorners.
- Click on + Create site like shown below.

- Now, Create a site dialogue box pops up with two options:
- Team site
- Communication site
- Select the Communication site. For Example, we are going to create a communication site “Social Corner”.

- Create a communication site dialog box open up having some fields listed below:
- Site name: Provide the site name based on your business requirement.
- Site address: It automatically takes the site address as same as the Site name without any space between the word.
- Site description: This will help to know about the purpose of creating the site.
- Select a language: It shows by default English, and if we want we can change it also.

- Click on Finish, then it will take a few seconds to Create the SharePoint Online Communication site.

Create a SharePoint Online Communication site using the SharePoint Admin center
Now, let’s find out how to create a SharePoint Online Communication Site using Admin Page.
- With your Microsoft Credential, log in to your Microsoft 365 Admin center -> Navigation menu, expand Admin center then Select SharePoint.
- Else, we can directly log in to the SharePoint Admin center and Navigate to: https://<tenantname>-admin.SharePoint.com Example: https://tsinfotechnologies-admin.sharepoint.com

- Now in the SharePoint admin center window, Click on Sites it shows two options
- Active sites: On the Active site page, you can see all currently active SharePoint sites.
- Deleted sites: On the Deleted site page you can see all the deleted sites, if required you can restore sites before 93 days.
- Now, select Active sites a dialog box will be opened then Select + Create.

- Now you can see the ‘Create a site ‘ window, from here we will choose the Communication site option.

- Create a communication site window opened up with the below options:
- Site name: Provide the communication site name
- Site address: It automatically takes the site address as same as the Site name without any space between the word.
- The site address get expanded with two options:
- ../sites/: When we select ../sites/ it shows that the site address is available like this “https://<tenant name>.sharepoint.com/sites/SocialCorners“.
- ../teams/: When we select ../teams/ it shows that the site address is available like this “https://<tenant name>.sharepoint.com/teams/SocialCorners” shown below:
- The site address get expanded with two options:


- Site owner: Assign the Site owner‘s name who will have Full control to manage the site.
- Select a language: It shows by default English, and if we want we can change it also.
- In the Advance setting, we have certain options which we can change if we want to as listed below
- Time zone: Here we set the time zone if we want to change.
- Site description: We can give a description of the site which we created.
- Storage limit: Here we can provide the limitation of storage. The maximum storage limit per SharePoint site is 250 GB.
- Click on Finish, then it will take a few seconds to Create the SharePoint team site.
