How to Create a Gantt Chart in Power BI

I will explain how to create a Gantt chart in a Power BI in simple steps.

I have a SharePoint list named Employee Leave list having the below columns [with different data types]:

1. Open Power BI Desktop and load data using the Get data option.

Unfortunately, the Gantt Chart is not a built-in chart. You can’t see the Gantt chart under the Visualization panel. We will add a Gantt chart to the Power BI Visualization panel. To do this, follow the below steps.

2. Under the Visualizations panel, click the three-dot() -> click Get more visuals.

3. Sign in with your office account (school or work account) to Power BI. If you don’t have one, don’t worry. Here is how to create your account.

Next, enter your Email account and click Continue.

4. Then, a Power BI visuals window opens. In the search bar, search Gantt -> Select the first with the verified (checkmark).

5. Click on the Add button.

6. Now, we can see this Gantt chart under our visualization Panel.

7. Click on the Gantt chart under the visualization panel. Then, drag ‘EmployeeName’ into ‘Parent,’ ‘LeaveType’ into ‘Task,’ ‘StartDate’ into ‘Start Date,’ and ‘EndDate’ into ‘End Date’ fields.

8. Now, I will create two slicers. Click on the slicer and drag “LeaveType” into the slicer field. Repeat the process: click on the slicer and drag “EmployeeName” into the slicer field.
