The calendar view is the most applicable view for a SharePoint event list or any list with a date field. We can also add filters to the view, and choose the event details like weekly and monthly views as per the needs.
Create a Calendar View in SharePoint List
Here, you can see, I have a SharePoint Online list named “Training Courses” and inside this, I have added various columns including date field columns.
Suppose, if you want to create a calendar view in the SharePoint list then you should have at least two date field columns like Start Date and End Date.

Now, follow the below steps to create a calendar view in the SharePoint Online list.
- Open the SharePoint list, click on the All items drop-down, and click on the Create new view option like below:

- Next, in the Create view window, provide the details below. Such as:
- View name: Enter the calendar view name as “Training Calendar”.
- Show as: We need to choose Calendar view as per the requirement.
- Default layout: You can select the default layout whether Month or Week.
- Start date on calendar: Select the date field as Start Date.
- End date on calendar: Select the date field as End Date.
- Then click on the Create button.

- Once, you created a new calendar view, it will look like the below:

How to make a standard calendar view in a SharePoint list
Once, you make a standard calendar view in the SharePoint list. then it will be shown as a calendar. Here people can view and create items in this view. To achieve it, follow the below steps:
- Open the SharePoint Online list -> Click on the Training Calendar drop-down -> Select the Set current view as default option like below:

- Then, you can select the + New option to add events to the calendar as shown below:

Edit calendar view in a SharePoint Online list
Here, you can see how to edit a calendar view in the SharePoint list then follow the below steps:
- Open the SharePoint Online list -> Click on the Edit current view under the Calender view like below:

- Then, In the Edit view window, here you can change the calendar Default layout weather Month view, or Week View as per your needs and click on the Save button as shown below:

- Once, you will change a calendar view from a Month view to a Week view It will look like the below:
