Change SharePoint Classic sites to modern sites
Let us see, how we can convert a classic SharePoint team site to a modern SharePoint team site.
Open the classic SharePoint site, then open the Site contents page.
There on the bottom left-hand side of the classic SharePoint site, we will find the Option as Exit classic experience.
Click on the Exit classic experience option.
- After exiting from the SharePoint classic SharePoint site, we can be able to see the modern SharePoint site contents page as shown below.

Change SharePoint modern sites to Classic sites
Suppose we are on the site contents modern site page, on the bottom left-hand side of the modern site, we will find the Option Return to classic SharePoint.
click on Return to classic SharePoint.
- After returning to the classic SharePoint site, we can be able to see the classic site page as shown below.
This is how to change or convert SharePoint Modern sites to Classic sites.
Change SharePoint Classic site to modern site by office365 group
- Open to the SharePoint Classic site, on the top right-hand side we will find the gear settings icon.
- Click on the Gear option, it will show a dialogue box with some options.
- Unfortunately, Connect to new office 365 Group option is disabled in the classic site .so we are unable to connect it to groups.
Missing option to connect a SharePoint site to Office 365 group
The option generally appears on the SharePoint admin center, but Microsoft has disabled the Classic site collection page from 2021. so the option doesn’t pop up in the settings.
To get the notification on the Classic site collections page, the following steps are:
- On the Sharepoint admin center, go to More features.
- Scroll down the page, at the bottom we can find the option for the Classic site collection page as below:
